Our Old Computer Room...circa 2002-2010

We have two computer rooms for use by computer club members. The original Computer Room now contains 1 desktop computer, a printer and 3 laptops.

It is a friendly place to do tasks on equipment that you might not have at home or you may want to "surf the web", check your "E-Mail" or be trained on various computer applications by our "Instructors".

The Computer Photo Lab contains 2 desktop computers, 3 laptops, 2 MAC's, a scanner and printer.

Both Computer Rooms are another of the many club activities that make membership worthwhile. You can access these rooms after you pass the certification test or come to the OPEN LABS from 1pm to 3pm on Fridays and you will be helped by our instructors.

Computer Room Administration...

Computer Room users must be current Computer Club members. Access is granted by the Administrator's, Instructors and members holding a certification card. An Instructor must be present at all times when a non-certified member is using the computers.

The Chief Administrator (Computer Club President) reviews computer room activity and reports given to him by the Administrators.

Administrators (Terry Brown, Don Raun and Gerry Stier) are responsible for installing, up-dating and maintaining the Computer Rooms.

Administrators teach and authorize the "Instructors".

Administrators can delegate or authorize anyone to install, up-date, modify or maintain hardware and/or software.

Authorized "Instructors" will maintain control over the computer rooms and help users with their needs while monitoring their actions.

Instructors will be friendly, but always alert to train and warn users of inappropriate uses of the computers.

Certified users may use the Computer Rooms by showing their identification card to the Front Desk and obtaining a key to the room.

==============================================

Duties of the Administrators:

Prepare Belarc Advisor reports quarterly to indicate that the hardware and/or software is authorized and working.

Keep Operating Systems current.

Keep administrative programs current by ensuring that all programs are up-to-date.

Email considerations:

No personal email accounts should be set up on any Club Computer. Anyone's email account can be accessed through the use of Webmail located on the home page of the Computer Club Web-site.

Duties of the Instructors.

Instructors should be aware of the "copyright" terms of the club software and indicate the need to the users to be aware of "never revealing" or "storing" their personal PASSWORD on any of the Computer Room's systems.

Warning!! Many of our members have webmail, screennames or other user id's/passwords in order to access applicable internet systems. When on-line, interactive internet systems sometimes ask the user to "SAVE" certain passwords, etc. Never "SAVE" these passwords on the Computer Club's computers.

Instructors should be able to demonstrate the following functions on at least one of the Club's computers:

Turn on, sign in.

Run programs (Internet Explorer, Email on Web, Word, etc.)

Explain the procedure to make a file folder with the members name.

Copy files to and from...(including all disk drives available)

Print a page...Remember to reset to the original printing parameters IF you adjust them.

Encourage the use of Flash Disks for input/output of personal data.

How to empty the recycle bin, before signing off.

Log off, and turn off all equipment.

Computer Room Rules.

Computer Club members are not authorized to copy Computer Club Software for their personal use. The Computer Club will not be held responsible for members copying of "copywrited software" by a member.

Food or drinks are not permitted in the Computer Rooms.

Do NOT leave any personal data or files on the Club Computers. Delete all temporary files that you have made or put in the Trash Bin. The Administrators will delete the trash bins periodically.

Thanks for observing the rules and we hope that you enjoy our computers. Any suggestions are welcome...
