Club Computer Instruction--Classes/Workshops

Dorothy Miller, our Director of Instruction gave a overview of the club's instructional efforts, including recent and future classes/workshops and the availability of "help sessions" for our membership.
Discussion of "outside" training involved planning for free "Apple" courses at the Encinitas Apple Store and exploration of other ways and means to bring in outside instructors for specialized venues.
Linda Strohm assisted Dorothy with the projector/computer, as always...
Hal McCawley presented the raffle prizes to the winners in his usual jovial style and our new Hospitality crew of Harriet McCawley and Ruthie Barnudy kept everyone happy with their healthy selection of refreshments.

Apple Computing Overview and Support

Chris Ridzon from Basics-n-Beyond was our featured speaker for March. Chris is a big believer in easy to use technology and supports all things Apple, along with several third party apple solutions.
His presentation covered the basics of Apple computers and led us through various computer related tasks to the enjoyment of the audience.
Jim Wright (above) displayed our club's computer hardware, including printers, refurbished computers and various cables, mice and assorted equipment for sale. A large crowd (below) enjoyed the meeting and had many questions, especially regarding the support of Apple computers.

Mobile Computing and Digital Photo Management

Brian Lam was our featured speaker for February. Brian has experience in Digital Cameras and Videography, as well as knowledge regarding all forms of Mobile Computing and Picture Management.
His presentation covered the uses of Smartphones, Tablet Computers, Laptops and digital picture management. A large crowd had many questions, especially regarding the synchronization of Smartphones to laptops and desktops.

The NEW COMPUTER CLUB:

Dick Travis and Dorothy Miller welcomed a very large crowd representing 125 new members of our club. Dick explained the history of the club and the events that led up to the installation of the new Computer Room.
Dorothy Miller presented several power points detailing the Club's schedule and plan for 2011 for instruction for the various Classes and Workshops that will be offered this year. Sign-ups will now be necessary for the Classes/Workshops due to the limited number of people (12 to 15) in the new hands-on environment.
Help Sessions will be expanded this year, with our new resources allowing much more "hands-on training" as well as more hours of member "Help Sessions". Some "new faces" instructing and helping this year...below...
